My name is Esther and I am the founder of Hope In Every Stitch. I have been involved in charity work for a long time and specifically knitting and crochet charities. I have been looking for a way to reach out and touch a group of people not already covered by another charitable group. I had decided to learn crochet after my mom’s passing in 2003. She was a huge inspiration in my life and was an amazing crocheter. I felt very bad that I had never learned with a built in teacher living in the same house. After I learned how to crochet I heard about prayer shawls and was very intriqued. I read an article about a local woman taking shawls to the local hospice house. With that article the seed was planted in my heart. My mother was diagnosed with leukemia and I personally know how tough cancer can be on families. I wish there had been an organization that offered items like this when my mother was sick. So in honor of her memory my goal is to make shawls that provide comfort and love to patients in hospice houses and cancer centers.
